I apologize for it being so long since I posted.  I was super busy this Spring and have had no time to catch up here, but yes- I’m alive.  I’m still on an extended break from sessions, trying to combat so many headaches that I have had in the past couple of weeks.  R&R is about all I am doing- besides enjoying time with my son during summer break.  I’ll be back soon and will share more sessions and it’s about time to start the 2011 Senior season!!

** above is a recent favorite of my son.  It’s not often that he naps, period- much less on the sofa, so I took full advantage of capturing him snuggled up with his beloved lovey and suckling his pinky.  Almost four.  Where does the the time go?

Lots going on behind the scenes nowadays.  I’m working hard on a new website and rebranding, so I appreciate your patience as I lag behind on the blog.  Happy Spring!

Had more fun with Cam in the backyard today and we made this cool guy (pun fully intended). Hope you all are having fun in the snow before it’s gone.  I hope I get additional interest in some Snowy Mini Sessions for in the morning.  I only need four booked to make it happen so spread the word.  Take 15 minutes out of this historic snow fun and have some fun on camera :)  Email now for details!

(Added 2/12/10- the snow will still be here tomorrow morning, so if you are wanting a Snowy Mini Session here in Allen, send me an email NOW!)

Glory, glory hallelujah!!!  We have 4 inches of beautiful white snow on the ground.  I don’t remember when we last had this much in North Texas and we are as giddy as we can be :)  My son and I started in the backyard and quickly got bored of the small space and went for a quick drive and did a little snow trekking.  He’s been sick lately so he was thrilled to wake up to this and get a little time in outside.

This will be a memory forever burned in my mind.  I first got a sweet kiss from him in the snow, then in the car he said I was the best mommy ever.  Sigh :)

So I LOVE snow portraits.  No tough time getting smiles and natural interaction.  I SO wish this was on a weekend so I could do some fun SNOWY mini sessions here in Allen.  Maybe we’ll have some left Saturday morning.  (I don’t have a keeper for the child Thurs/Fri or I’d be calling everyone in today for snow mini’s!) If you have  any interest in a Saturday morning mini- IF there is any snow left- email me at info@rhondaduronphotography.com

Enjoy the mini blizzard!

The big 3.  The (smaller) love of my life.

Full of laughter, hugs and wonder.

It’s the helicopter he-di-doctor that he was watching hover in the distance. The things that amaze my son seem so trivial. I love this age.  Almost three.

I can hardly believe how fast the days pass.

I thought I would post something a little different this week. For my Mother’s Day gift, I told my husband that I wanted him to take a photo of my son and me. I found the spot, handed over the camera for once, adjusted the settings and let him have control. I even had THE image in my mind and I knew exactly what I wanted.  This is what my husband took:

and I love it.

At some point in your child’s life, they’ll be searching for a photo of you and them that they feel a connection with. It may be a planned one like mine-or candid. Doesn’t really matter. Just make a point to take one now and again. Hair down or up, smiling or not, overweight or not. Just take some together- each child with mom, each child with dad- not just a big family group shot. One day they’ll be so happy you took the time, handed the camera over, makeup or not, hair fixed or not, posed or not.

I post this because I feel sad when the majority of parents don’t want to be photographed with their children because they are not comfortable for one reason or another. I would love a childhood photo of just me and my mother like this- or even something candid and fun of just us. She was always the one taking the photos in our family. Nevertheless, time goes by and you wait to lose that weight, get your haircut or buy the outfits for the session and it just doesn’t happen. When I’m at a session, I always stress the importance of taking just a couple at the end with the child. They will love it someday.

It doesn’t have to be perfect at all.

Finally, my first post of the 2009!  It had to wait until I did a long overdue Blog makeover (among other things) and I love the new look and I hope you all do as well.  If you are getting this update through the email subscription, then you won’t see the new colors and pretties unless you go to the actual blog :) Also, I will be resuming portrait sessions later this month and it will be great to meet my little Winter clients very soon.
These were from Christmas Day.  After countless hours of playing with his new train set, Hotwheels and a zillion other new toys, Camden went to his quiet room to sit in his rocker and snuggle with his old pals.
